Al Williams Home Page
Hello!
I live with my wife Louise in Meadowlakes, Texas. Our son
Evan is finishing up his PhD in philosophy at Rutgers in New Brunswick!
In 2005, I retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory, in New Mexico, where I provided database development for the Human Genome Project during most of my twenty years service.
Before relocating to New Mexico, I had worked at Datapoint, and then in Houston at Pennzoil.
I grew up in San Antonio where I graduated from John Marshall High School. After high school, I attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a B.A., in Computer Science (after first studying music for several years).
Music is still an important part of my life. I began as a trombone player, but electric bass is now my primary instrument. I playing bass with the Flashbacks, a 1940's style big band, and its smaller 7-piece combo, the Skylarks. My wife and I are also playing in the local community band. Louise plays flute and piccolo. I'm currently playing the Eb alto horn. Louise and I also perform as a flute and bass duo, called Sweet & Low.
Photography is another of my passions. I'm currently using two Panasonic Lumix cameras, the FZ50 and the LX3. My photo blog, Through This Lens, has not been updated recently, but is representative of my work.
And then there's Facebook (www.facebook.com/alwilliamsjr)! If you want to see my latest photos, or just find out what I'm up to, that's where you can find me.
